Find the Odd One Out
FindItV fills the screen with identical tiles except one, and asks you to find it before the clock runs down. The grid grows from 3x3 up to 10x10 and the difference gets subtler at every step.
How to play FindItV
- A grid of tiles appears. Every tile is the same except one.
- The odd tile may differ in colour, angle, size or brightness — which of those changes from round to round.
- Tap the odd tile. A correct find scores points and adds two seconds to the clock.
- A wrong tap costs you three seconds, so guessing is expensive.
- Clear a round and the grid grows. Keep going until the clock runs out.
How scoring works
Each correct find scores points and buys you two more seconds; each wrong tap costs three seconds off the clock. Consecutive finds build a combo multiplier, so an unbroken run is worth far more than the same number of finds with mistakes in between. The run ends when the clock reaches zero, and your score is the total carried to that point.
Three ways to score better
- Let your eyes go slightly soft rather than checking tiles one by one. A difference in brightness or angle tends to announce itself in peripheral vision.
- Never tap to test a hunch. Three seconds is a large slice of a short clock.
- On the larger grids, scan in bands rather than rows. Reading tile by tile is too slow past 6x6.
Common questions
What exactly is different about the odd tile?
One of four things: colour, rotation, size or brightness. Which one it is changes each round, so you cannot settle into looking for a single kind of difference.
Does the grid keep growing forever?
It grows to 10x10 and stays there, but the difference keeps getting subtler, so the later rounds remain hard even at a fixed size.
Is there a penalty for not tapping at all?
Only the clock, which keeps running. Waiting is not punished directly, but it is not free either.
