Number and Pattern Sequences

SequenceV shows a run of terms and asks what comes next. The sequences use numbers, letters, months, days and word patterns rather than arithmetic drills, so the work is finding the rule, not doing the sum.

How to play SequenceV

  1. A sequence of terms appears with one missing at the end.
  2. Work out the rule behind the run.
  3. Choose the next term from the options.
  4. The rule is revealed afterwards, whether you were right or not.
  5. Difficulty ramps as you progress. Survival mode gives you three lives.

How scoring works

Points are awarded per correct term with the value rising as the difficulty ramps, so later terms are worth more. In Survival you have three lives and the run ends on the third mistake. Because the rule is always revealed afterwards, a wrong answer still leaves you with the pattern for next time.

Three ways to score better

Common questions

Is this an arithmetic test?

No. The sequences deliberately mix numbers, letters, months, days and word patterns, so the challenge is identifying a rule rather than calculating.

Is the rule explained?

Always, after each answer. That is how the challenge teaches rather than just testing.

What is Survival mode?

The same sequences with three lives. The run continues until you have made three mistakes, with difficulty rising throughout.
