The short version
Kharcha keeps your financial data on your device. Every transaction, note, payment mode and budget you enter is saved in your browser's local storage on the device you are using. It is never sent to any server, we have no account system, and we cannot see your data.
What data Kharcha stores, and where
- Your transactions — the amount, type (expense or income), category, date, payment mode (Cash / UPI / Card) and any optional note you type.
- Your monthly budget — the budget figure you set.
- A theme preference — whether you chose dark or light mode.
All of the above is stored using your browser's localStorage feature on your own device. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else. There is no login, no sync and no cloud backup. If you open Kharcha on a different device or browser, your data will not be there, because it never left the first one.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number or account details — there is no sign-up.
- We do not upload, transmit or store your transactions, notes or budget on any server.
- We do not sell or share your financial information, because we do not have it.
Advertising and cookies
Kharcha is supported by a small ad on some pages, served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. These cookies are used by Google, not by Kharcha, and they do not have access to the financial data stored in your browser's local storage. You can learn more and manage your choices at Google's Ads Privacy page, and control cookies through your browser settings.
How to clear your data
You are always in control:
- Use the "Clear all data" button on the tracker page to instantly delete all your Kharcha data from this device.
- You can also clear your browser's site data / local storage for this site through your browser settings.
- Uninstalling the app (if you added it to your home screen) and clearing site data removes everything.
Children
Kharcha is intended for general use and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, as it stores nothing on a server.
